USA Today:
Info Design Rebrand
USA Today has long been celebrated for its extensive use of data visualization in its reporting. In September of 2012, to celebrate its 30th anniversary, USA Today launched its most dramatic rebrand in its history. Working with a producer and leading a small team of designers at Column Five Media, I had the opportunity to redesign the newspaper's use of information design, and helped adapt it to this new age of media, where speed and efficiency in reporting are more important than ever. We developed brand standards, and best practice guidelines for the application of a wide variety of charts, graphs, and iconography for use on both the web and in print. We delivered tools and a comprehensive guide to help all USA Today employees, from experienced designers, to journalists in the field, be able to create effective, and attractive visualizations, that maintain and reinforce the newspapers brand image.
